HP and InkCycle reach Settlement in litigation

Jul 15, 2005

HP and InkCycle have announced that they have resolved their patent infringement lawsuit regarding the inks InkCycle had used in the refilling of certain HP inkjet cartridges.

Under the terms of the agreement, InkCycle has agreed to get hold of re-formulated, non-infringing ink sets for three of its products and pay HP an undisclosed sum.

The lawsuit was initially filed in March 2005 after HP discovered that refilled inkjet cartridges sold under the Staples brand contained patent-infringing ink.

“HP will continue to invest in technology that benefits consumers and to aggressively protect this investment,” said Pradeep Jotwani, senior vice president of the Imaging and

Printing Supplies Business at HP. He continued by saying that “HP is pleased to be able to resolve this matter quickly”
