HP has published another advertisement in the British media attacking remanufactured cartridges.
The ad, published in The Times of Saturday April 7th claimed that 1 in 7 remanufactured cartridges fails.
HP uses the results of the QualityLogic report to support its claims. This research was, of course, comissioned by HP in 2005.
This issue has been taken up by BBC Radio 4 consumer programme “You and Yours”. To listen to this programme on the internet, and to find out more click here to go to the BBC website.
The advert refers to the HP website www.hp.com/uk/originalhp which states “Buy any refill or own-label cartridge for your HP printer and all you get is a used HP cartridge, refilled with non-HP ink. Of course you may also get some interesting results”. It contines “We do not refill our print cartridges we recycle them – over 112 million to date. Our old cartridges come back as all sorts of things – like car bumpers, for example. But the one place we don’t think you should find them is back in your printer, refilled with non-HP ink.”
