Media Sciences major expansion

Jun 4, 2007

Company steps into growing Samsung market, launches colour supplies for use in additional Dell, Xerox, and Ricoh printer models.

All models combined, the introduction represents the third largest installed base opportunity in the company’s history.

Media Sciences announced the launch of 100% new-build Clearcase colour toner cartridges for use in Samsung CLP-500, CLP-550, and CLP-510; Xerox Phaser 6360 and 6100; Dell 5110cn; and Ricoh Aficio CL-2000, CL-3000, and CL-3500 business colour printers.

As part of an aggressive series of new product introductions in Media Sciences’ fiscal year 2007, this latest product launch includes expectations for shipment of supplies for all named models by late June.

The launch marks Media Sciences’ entry into the Samsung colour supplies market. According to Alyson Frasco, Director Worldwide Hardcopy Peripheral Trackers & Forecasts at IDC, “The worldwide colour laser printer market grew 15% in 2006 and is expected to continue to grow at a double digit growth rate through 2011. Samsung has steadily grown its share of the worldwide colour laser printer market since 2003.”

Ms. Frasco added, “The Samsung colour laser printers for which Media Sciences has launched its colour toner supplies, are targeted largely at small business and home office users, where savings on printer supplies resonate well.”

Media Sciences’ President and CEO Michael W. Levin remarked, “As Media Sciences steps into the growing Samsung market, home and small office Samsung colour printer owners who may have experienced ‘sticker shock’ when buying supplies for their printers, now have a more affordable, high-quality, warranty-protected alternative.”

Mr. Levin continued, “This launch also exemplifies Media Sciences’ commitment to providing colour business printer users high-quality, affordable alternatives at an accelerated pace. Our supplies for use in the Xerox Phaser 6360 and Dell 5110 offer an alternative to end users at an early stage in the life of a printer.”

Xerox released the Phaser 6360 as recently as February 2007 and the Dell 5110cn entered the market one year ago. This spring, Media Sciences announced solid ink sticks for use in the Xerox Phaser 8560 series of colour printers, roughly 60 days after Xerox’s introduction of the printer series in January, and followed in May with an array of new INKlusive(R) Free Colour Printer Programs, where customers buy the supplies and get the printer free, for models in this solid ink printer series.

Media Sciences manufactures products for every solid ink business colour printer available on the market today. The Company also manufactures colour toner cartridges for a broad array of leading business colour printers made by Dell, Xerox, Tektronix, OKI, Ricoh, Konica-Minolta/Minolta- QMS, Epson, and Brother. All Media Sciences products offer end users savings of up to and over 30% when compared to the printer manufacturer’s brand.
