Canon U.S.A. unveils new colour imageRUNNER C5185 series MFPs  

Introduction of its Next-Generation Colour MFP

Canon U.S.A., Inc., has introduced the Colour imageRUNNER C5185 Series, its latest digital multifunction device complete with greater flexibility, power and performance. Unveiled at Canon’s Digital Solutions Forum in Chicago, the Colour imageRUNNER C5185 Series will be the first Canon branded colour MFP to use a Single-Pass Duplexing Automatic Document Feeder (DADF) and the first to incorporate a number of new features and functionality.  

Canon established itself as a market leader synonymous with colour 30 years ago with the introduction of its first colour copier in Japan, and 20 years ago with the introduction of the first colour laser copier (CLC-1). Canon recently reached another milestone in its illustrious colour history with the sale of its 1,000,000th digital colour copier.

Today, Canon continues to build on this tradition with the Colour imageRUNNER C5185 Series, equipped with unrivalled colour brilliance and production speeds of up to 51 pages per minute (ppm) for both colour and black-and-white letter-sized documents. The 100-sheet Single-Pass DADF on the Colour imageRUNNER C5185 devices scans both sides of originals simultaneously at speeds up to 100 images-per-minute (ipm) at 300 dots-per-inch (dpi) resolution, helping to improve document distribution, communication and archiving. 

The new Colour imageRUNNER C5185 will be the first imageRUNNER models to support new features that will also be available on several black-and-white and Colour imageRUNNER devices moving forward. Some of these features include Workflow Composer, which allows users to register one key for all document processes within an entire workflow or task, IPv6 and Microsoft Vista support, and Access Management System, which gives administrators greater control over device access at the user- and group-level.

To meet the expanding data management and security needs of globally distributed businesses and mobile workforces, the Colour imageRUNNER C5185 devices also provides both Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) protocols and advanced authentication tools, including Single Sign-On (SSO) and Simple Device Log-in (SDL).
