Canon opens Dubai distribution hub

Nov 22, 2007

The Middle East division of Canon Inc. has opened a dedicated distribution hub in Jebel Ali, Dubai, reports ArabianBusiness.com, transforming the company’s supply chain in line with its European distribution approach.

According to Canon executives speaking at the firm’s Concerto partner and press event in Dubai this week, the hub will both enhance both Canon’s supply management and customer service capabilities, as well as helping to reduce distribution costs.

“This centre will reduce our supply chain costs by 15%, and reduce our lead time for products catering to the Middle East and Africa region by 26 days,” predicted Mohamed Salama, Canon Middle East’s Head of Marketing for the Middle East and North Africa region.

Canon’s new Jebel Ali Free Zone hub will cater to over 50 countries across the Middle East and the entire African continent.

“In order for Canon to raise its competitive edge, we are implementing a series of comprehensive strategic initiatives focussed on highlighting our commitment to the region, increasing our market leadership and developing a truly global footprint for Canon in the region,” added Richie Cuthbert, the head of Canon Middle East’s supply chain division. “Our new hub in Dubai provides us with the resources, tools and processes we need to get closer to regional customers and respond with agility to regional market dynamics,” he concluded.
