Dr. Nabil Z. Nasr, Director of RIT’s newly commissioned Golisano Institute for Sustainability, will present the keynote address at Inkjet Inks & Media 2008. This new marketing/technical Seminar presented by The Tiara Group will take place at the Westin Resort on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
The Golisano Institute, funded by a $10 million donation from Paychex founder and CEO, Mr. B. Thomas Golisano, plans to offer the first PhD programme in sustainability research and education. The concept of sustainability lies at the heart of efforts to protect the Earth’s environment, preserve our planet’s resources, reduce our carbon footprint, and discover alternative means of energy generation.
Dr. Nabil Nasr is Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs and in 2002 was named Director of the Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies (CIMS) at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is also the Founding Director of the National Center for Remanufacturing and Resource Recovery. In the past, he has taught several workshops for industry in manufacturing facility planning and design, production planning, factory automation, and numerical control. In 1997, he founded the National Center for Remanufacturing and Resource Recovery.
For more than 16 years Dr. Nasr has been a leader in research and development activities aimed at benign manufacturing, remanufacturing, and sustainable design. He has developed strong ties to industry through efforts to implement and improve sustainable design processes at hundreds of companies from diverse sectors. Dr. Nasr is a renowned presenter in this field, has chaired a number of industry-wide conference sessions, and published numerous technical papers. He has served on several national task forces in this field and has represented the United States in environmental discussions with representatives of other nations.
What is most innovative about Inkjet Inks and Media 2008 is its focus on the compatibility of inks and media with respect to image quality, resolution and permanence. At the same time, the overall theme of the event, Pathway to a Green Horizon, will colour each presentation in recognition of the imaging industry’s green transition.
