May 7, 2009

OKI Printing Solutions Malaysia fulfilled its first initiative to realize the ‘One Printer One Tree’ campaign by planting 103 trees at the ‘Hutan Kita’ – ‘Kiara Our Forest’ programme at Taman Bukit Kiara in Taman Tun Dr Ismail in Malaysia.

This programme was initiated by the Malaysian Landscape Advisory Panel (MLAP) with its main objective to encourage government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), corporate sectors and private individuals to come together and contribute to the environment by purchasing and subsequently plant the trees to create an urban community forest park in the city.

‘One Printer One Tree’ is a commitment from OKI Printing Solutions that for each duplex printer sold; one tree will be planted as duplex minimizes paper usage with its double-sided printing. In the past three months, there were more than 100 duplex printers sold. Hence, OKI Printing Solutions Malaysia planted 103 trees at Bukit Kiara.

OKI Printing Solution Malaysia’s Country Manager, Mr. Goh Yin Hwang says “Forest trees are crucial to regulate local and regional rainfall especially during the recent global warming; we will also do our part in conserving the environment for better tomorrow”. OKI Printing Solutions’ environmental conservation efforts do not just stop here because in the near future more trees will be planted as OKI is confident that people nowadays are well aware of duplex printers.
