This led Egypt to launch its first printing technology fair in Cairo called “Techno print fair”. During the fair, Spear Ink was honoured as the first manufacturer of refill machines in the Middle East.
The Minister of Labour honoured Spear Ink (see image) with a certificate of honour from the Techno Print fair for its influential role in the fair. Spear Ink also won an award for recycling.
The company began in 2005 in the Sultanate of Oman as a centre of ink filling. After that the co-founder of Spear Ink, Essam Hashem, switched to manufacturing and collecting refill machines in Egypt.
From there Hashem, aged just 22, turned to manufacturing ink and toner refill machines. Experimentation led to success in making his first refill machine.
His project began to spread in the Gulf Area. After the company made a partnership with Mariam Al-Ajmi, a Kuwaiti national who financed the Spear Ink project, it developed faster and the company began franchising and opening more branches in more countries in the Middle East.
Today Spear Ink is reportedly one of the biggest recycling companies in the Middle East. The company realized the importance of recycling in her field beginning from manufacturing its first high quality ink refill machine to its high technology toner refill machine.
Now Spear Ink is a partner in an environmental programme to recycle waste in the Middle East, related to CNP (the “Communities of Nations for Peace” association), which is a subsidiary of the United Nations. Spear Ink is running this programme for all countries in the Middle East.
