Soy ink for inkjet cartridges announced

Oct 5, 2009

Richard Greenlaw, Vice President of PRC said the new ink will be made available by license, to inkjet cartridge manufacturers.

He explained that while ink for commercial printing has been available in a soy-based version for some time, PRC  felt compelled to act on the need for soy based inkjet cartridges, in view of how well received its SoyPrint toner cartridges has been in and out of the US.

Greenlaw reports that SoyJet was in response to the fact that 1.1 billion inkjet cartridges are sold each year, containing on average 3 ounces of petroleum-based ink each.

SoyPrint is currently negotiating to determine which manufacturers will have access to SoyJet ink.
“SoyJet is made from US grown soybeans”, Greenlaw said.   He also reported the ink will be available for use in compatible cartridges for as many as six major inkjet brands.
