Sanwa Newtec has launched PrePeat, an eco-printer that does not use ink, toner or copy paper. This rewritable printer has a special thermal head, and uses special-purpose rewritable paper made of PET plastic. After these rewritable sheets have been printed on, if the documents are no longer needed, they can be erased just by inserting them into the printer.
The rewritable sheets turn black, then lose their colour again, depending on the temperature. These changes are controlled precisely by the sublimation and liquefaction technology in the thermal head. The product benefits that are being emphasized are high-speed printing and reduced running costs, because the user does not need to buy toner, ink, or paper.
The rewritable sheet printed by the leuco method is made from the PET film and can be re-writtem up to 1000 times per sheet.
