Ex-Cartridge World franchise celebrates 10th successful year

A Dorset based shop selling remanufactured cartridges will celebrate its 10th birthday on 30 July.

Originally starting out as a Cartridge World franchise, Owner David Darling believes that Everything 4 Printers is “miles apart” from Cartridge World stores.

“Cartridge World was not the right way of doing things. I was just a shop owner. I could only buy a box and sell a box,” he said.

After a lengthy dispute over advertising funds at the High Court, Cartridge World offered Darling an out-of-court settlement. (Click here to read our coverage.) From the money, he was able to set up his own business and do things his own way.

Darling said: “We fell out with Cartridge World for abusing advertising funds and felt it wasn’t right. We went to the High Court four times and soon the judges realised we were telling the truth.”

In 2006, he reopened as Everything 4 Printers and now rebrands and repacks remanufactured cartridges.

He believes his key to success is that his store offers a “far better service”. Everything 4 Printers offers a free installation service for anyone buying a printer and a free delivery and collection service for both business and domestic clients.

“We also give away things. At the moment it’s little Easter eggs, and if a customer spends over £20, we’ll give them a pack of A5 glossy photo paper,” added Darling.

Last year, the store won the Top of the Shops Award, organised by Poole Council, for best independent retailer. Darling has also opened another shop in nearby Southampton, and hopes to open a further three.
