Dell to enter MPS market

Apr 7, 2010

“We’re already doing a lot of managed seats, and offering [managed print services] would be a natural evolution,” said Donald Heath, senior manager in charge of Dell’s marketing and sales support and third party products.

See May’s issue of Recycler Magazine for an exclusive opinion from Ed Crowley, CEO of MPS consultants Photizo Group.

Dell has been taking steps towards MPS in recent months, such as acquiring experienced IT solutions company Perot Systems and integrating them into a new support unit, Dell Services.

They also have plans to release a software package to unify printer infrastructure, as well as incorporating OpenManage Printer Manager software into the Dell Management Console. They are also including Java capabilities in printers, creating the ability to ability to customize software to specific needs.
