Brother gains Nordic Swan Eco-Label for laser printers

Apr 14, 2010

Swan-labelled equipment has strict requirements on power usage, product lifespan, emissions, eco-functionality and recycling. The label also means that the machine is built so they will be easy to recover, repair and upgrade.

Brother said: “This is the first time we’ve achieved Nordic Swan certification and we now hope to extend the scope in the future to other products. The Swan eco-label recognizes that our printers and multifunction machines are high performance and built to be recycled.”

The Nordic Swan standard covers the products’ entire lifecycle, from raw material to waste – and draws many parallels with the Blue Angel and ENERGY STAR eco-labels.

It is the official eco-mark for the Nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway) and was introduced by the Nordic Council of Ministers in 1989. It aims to promote more sustainable consumerism in order to create a sustainable society.
