The 2,700-square-foot facility will focus on remanufacturing HP and Brother toner cartridges, and will be using the same methods as ELS’s existing Southbridge site.
ELS sales team member Nathan Dube said: “Our system of no seal, ready-to-use toners (which are hand-delivered direct-to-desk in our managed print services program) is truly today’s “greenest” recycling methodology. And end-users like it because they don’t have to remove toner seals, which can be a dirty process.
“The key difference, however, is that large recyclers typically cut the cartridge core apart to begin their process. This invariably results in the core being re-used just one time. With Expert Laser’s process the integrity of the cartridge is preserved, allowing us to re-utilize the core 8 to 10 times.”
15-year veterans of the managed print service industry, ELS remanufacture toner cartridges for their customers for brands such as HP and Konica Minolta. Their PrintDOME service collects used cartridges directly from customers and reuses them for as long as possible before recycling them, greatly reducing production and shipping costs, as well as waste.
The new facility is expected to be completed by 1 July 2010 and ELS is hoping it will benefit the Lowcountry as well as the company.
“With the introduction of print cartridge remanufacturing in the Lowcountry, more jobs, lower costs, and more expertise comes to business owners and organizations of all types. Objectively, this is pretty exciting news for the Lowcountry,” said Dube.
