Kyocera sponsors sustainability leadership programme

May 6, 2010

Kyocera is hosting a training workshop to promote sustainable leadership, with the Centre of Sustainability and Excellence (CSE), at its new Technology Suite in London.

Course attendees will be “certified as Climate Change leaders with a qualification recognised by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA)”.

The Climate Change workshop will enable participants to lead their businesses in developing strategies to manage and mitigate the impact of climate change.

Areas of focus include: implementing a comprehensive Carbon Footprint Strategy; the correlation between CSR and Climate Change to incorporate environmental initiatives within a CSR Strategy; effective use of tools for measuring and offsetting GHG emissions of services and products and its impact on your organisation; familiarisation with Global Standards, the Kyoto Protocol, GHG Accounting and Reporting; and practical methods that can be used to further develop carbon footprint strategy.

Tracey Rawling Church, Director of Brand and Reputation at Kyocera, said: “At a time when economic conditions make organisations think twice about employing external consultants, it can be more cost-effective to train in-house personnel to undertake the same work. This course delivers an internationally recognised accreditation, providing the skills required to develop and implement an in-house sustainability strategy.

“Astute environmental management can often result in significant financial savings in addition to improvements in environmental performance, making investing in training in this area a sound commercial strategy.”

The two-day workshop will take place on 10 and 11 June and costs €1550, with an early booking discount at €1395 before 14 May. Members of Kyocera’s Green Card network, a free resource that promotes sustainable business practice, are also entitled to a discount. Click here to register for the workshop.
