May 19, 2010

The new lineup aims for some of the most popular wide format brands, including Canon, Epson, HP, Mimaki, Mutoh and Roland. It includes dye-based and pigmented aqueous inks and eco-solvent inks, with UC-curable inks following soon.

Thierry Hohenadel, who works as a wide format consultant with UTec, told Recycler that they had enjoyed a good start at the trade show yesterday.

“We’ve had a lot of buzz so far today, we actually had people waiting for us to open this morning,” he said from their Ipex stand.

“I think Utec is ready to become a confident part of the wide format industry. We have the right product for the market and there’s a of interest in that.”

He added that UTec’s wide format compatibles are currently being externally tested and will be officially certified for quality with the next two months.

“People are always worried about quality with compatible ink, and wide format in particular is a newer area for that, so we want to prove it’s high quality.”

In a press release issued today, UTec said: “Based on internally developed patented formulations, our wide-format inks contain only the highest-quality dyestuffs, pigments, and other raw materials. The factory employs nanotechnology and strict testing methodology to ensure its products consistently provide the highest level of quality and performance.”

Ipex runs from 18-25 May and UTec will be displaying their new releases for the remainder of the show.
