In the legal documents, Whetstone states that the “defendants have acted in reckless disregard of Whetstone’s valid and subsisting patent rights”.
“This is an exceptional case, and Whetstone seeks an award of enhanced damages, attorneys’ fees, costs and expenses,” added Whetstone.
The case against Xerox, Canon USA, Canon Business Solutions, East Texas Copy Systems, Konica Minolta Holdings, Konica Minolta Business Solutions USA, Ricoh Americas Corporation, Ricoh Electronics, Complete Business Systems, Toshiba America, Toshiba America Business Solutions, Star Graphics, Brother International Corporation and Sharp Electronics Corporation was filed on 3 June.
A jury trial has been requested.
