InkCycle uses YouTube to promote cartridge reuse

Jul 9, 2010

The company’s Executive Vice President Brad Roderick reviews five steps on how to reuse ink and toner cartridges. This includes disassembling, cleaning, getting rid of toner safely and post-testing.

According to InkCycle, in 2009, a US Environmental Protection Agency report estimated that roughly 400,000 tons of e-waste is sent to recyclers every year.

Up to 80 percent of the materials, which are sorted for recycling, end up in operations in China, India, Southeast Asia and West Africa where they are disassembled and burned or dumped.

Roderick said: “It is vital that we dispose of e-waste properly and create a product that pleases the consumer. First, the cartridges must be disassembled and cleaned, then the excess toner is disposed of appropriately and finally the cartridges must be post-tested. This video shows the process of how we get ink and toner cartridges back to a usable state in the most efficient way.”
