Memjet plans to increase profile this year

Jul 20, 2010

After many years in development, it appears the new technology is nearing its full launch, with Lauer telling Xconomy that Memjet is ready to “step into the open and increase its visibility later this year”.

The company will not be releasing Memjet branded printers, but rather will be supplying the technology for use by other manufacturers. The Recycler reported in May that the RapidX1 and X2 label printers were on show at the IPEX trade show using Memjet technology.

Xconomy reports that the technology will be available in commercial label printers in Autumn of this year.

“In my view, it’s a businessman’s dream,” Lauer told Xconomy. “It’s technology that represents a high-value proposition to the customer. It’s really fast. And it’s less-expensive.”

As reported by the Recycler, Lauer joined Memjet in January as President and CEO after leaving his position as Vice President and COO at communication technology company Qualcomm, Inc.

He said at the time it was an opportune time to join the company, and that Memjet was “on the threshold of commercializing its first generation of breakthrough printing components with a strong technology roadmap and funding to drive its future”.
