The retailer is reminding consumers using a printer to “ink responsibly and use the OfficeMax Ink Refill service” rather than discarding cartridges.
Since launching its ink refill services in 2005, OfficeMax has refilled more than 3.5 million ink cartridges.
It says that this has saved customers as much as 50 percent of their normal ink cost and kept tonnes of waste out of community landfills.
The company’s Executive Vice President and CMO Ryan Vero said: “The OfficeMax ink refill service is state of the art, examining the quality of the cartridge before refilling and then performing a quality test after the refilling.
“Anyone who has worried about quality or performance just hasn’t tried our service. Once customers try it, they tend to become repeat users of the ink refill service.”
