Ricoh introduces HotSpot mobile printing for MFPs

Aug 13, 2010

HotSpot is powered by PrinterOn and lets users print from laptops, handhelds and smart phones to any enabled printer without the need for installing specialized drivers or networks.

The service is aimed at business travellers and other professionals who need access to important documents on the move, as well as domestic users.

Ricoh says HotSpot is designed to be as quick and easy as sending an email, and documents are 100 percent secure thanks to a unique security code for every job.

In May, the company released a free downloadable HotSpot application for BlackBerry smartphones.

Matt Sakauchi, Vice President of Ricoh Americas’ Office Printer Business Group, said: “Launching the HotSpot feature for the MFP is a critical step as Ricoh expands its mobile printing offering.

“Offering a secure, web-connected option that allows users to print from their smartphones to any Ricoh HotSpot enabled device, gives Ricoh customers a competitive advantage to better conducting their business quickly and efficiently in an ever-changing marketplace.”
