Canon to build inkjet facility in Thailand

Sep 21, 2010

The JPY 14.6 billion new plant is intended to increase the company’s inkjet production, and manufacture around 5.5 million units a year.

Canon said: “In recent years, the inkjet printer market has displayed steady growth worldwide. Additionally, increasing demand expected in the future has created a pressing need for Canon to expand its production capacity for inkjet printer products.”

The 64,080 square-foot facility is planned for the Nakhonratchasima province in northeastern Thailand. Canon says the plant will benefit from the area’s “abundant labour force” as well as working with the existing plant’s supplies and infrastructure.

Construction is planned for January, with the plant becoming operational by October 2011.
