The ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized standard awarded after independent audit. To achieve it, a company must identify areas of business that can be made more environmentally friendly, and successfully work to improve them.
Marketing Director Alistair Barker said: “We realised early on that in order to compete successfully, companies must prove they follow environmental management systems on the waste they produce and are dedicated to improving their environmental performance.
“With the ISO 14001 accreditation we can now measure our consumption and reduce waste lessening our environmental impact.”
He continued: “Because we remanufacture, it is important to follow good environmental practices. When a cartridge, for one reason or another, cannot be remanufactured, it is important it is recycled for material recovery and doesn’t end up in landfill or incineration.
“Our customers expect it from us – and we expect it from us. Our goal is zero landfill – even the waste toner we remove from spent cartridges is collected and sent for recovery”.
Managing Director Laura Heywood also pointed out that a company’s environmental credentials are becoming increasingly more important, alongside competitive pricing.
“The average savings in CO2 emissions on a remanufactured cartridge is 3 kg,” she said. “If you add up how many cartridges your potential customer uses in a month and then multiply it by 12, it can be quite a substantial savings in CO2 over the year.
“This is a valuable message to offer a potential customer – and along with quality and environmental systems in place to support your credibility – it will carry an even further impact.”
