SoyPrint to reveal bio-toner Lexmark compatibles

Sep 28, 2010

The company’s Vice President, Rick Greenlaw, said: “As with the HP versions, the Lexmark compatibles will have a high bio content and will comprise the longest list of bio-based cartridges available anywhere.”

The SoyPrint brand is also due to launch the next generation of its approximately 30 HP SoyPrint models in November.

According to Greenlaw, the bio content in the HP cartridges will be about 40 percent.

SoyPrint uses oil from soybean crops instead of the petroleum-based oil found in toner, reducing the use of non-renewable resources.

In July, the company said that it had achieved 100 percent bio toner resin. However, in the final mix the non-oil ingredients will reduce the final bio content, although Greenlaw expected it to exceed that of other brands.

He confirmed SoyPrint will continue to be sold as a finished good in the US and that the toner itself would be made available in bulk outside of the US, to SoyPrint licence holders worldwide.
