Samsung vs TNIRP IP hearing pushed back

Oct 21, 2010

The hearing date was originally set to 6 October, with Samsung accusing TNIRP of infringing its patents on chips and resetters.

Sales Manager Julie Jang said that TNIRP is preparing to refute the Samsung patent.

She explained that the case is difficult for general people to understand. “Even the persons concerned like lawyers and judges need time to understand the case,” she said.

Jang added: “Currently, we are proceeding with invalidity action for the patent itself and at the same time, preparing data to refute the patent that Samsung insists we have infringed.

“Currently, our company is trying to do our best for a positive result by collaborating with Korea Cartridge Recycling Association, Fair Trade Commission and Ministry of Environment.

“If we lose this case, we think it will be a threat not only for our company, but also for the recycling industry.

“We will do our best to keep both our company and this industry, and for this, we need everyone’s help in this industry from now on.”

Samsung said: “Samsung does not comment on pending legal issues.”
