Inkjet industry enhances job opportunities

Oct 22, 2010

Elliot Marsh said that inkjet printing “has become arguably the undisputed leader in digital printing technology”.

It predicted that inkjet is showing “no signs of slowing down”, giving better opportunities for those employed in the sector and an increase of vacancies.

The agency explained that it has seen consistent growth in the UV printer market, but the biggest growth has been in digital graphics, pos, textiles and packaging.

Elliot Marsh’s Divisional Manager, Dorinda Gibbons, said that the firm “anticipates strong growth in these markets over the next five years”.

The business said: “With its shorter runs, faster turnaround and lower costs than traditional printing systems, the inkjet marketplace is becoming an increasingly competitive environment traditional ink manufacturers are either acquiring other businesses or establishing new subsidiaries in a bid to get in on the action.”

Gibbons added: “Over the last three months alone, we have seen the number of available jobs within the digital printing sector steadily increase with employers now looking to fill a number of different positions ranging from sales and business development roles to technical and senior roles.

“The current rate of growth may well be slower than that experienced pre-recession, but it is a clear indication that the industry is once again recruiting.

“While the industry has suffered in recent years – largely as a result of the rapid growth of online advertising which is now expected to surpass print advertising for the first time by the end of 2010 having already overtaken TV advertising on 2009 – the rapid and ongoing developments in inkjet technology have not only stimulated the growth of the digital print industry, but they have also enabled the industry as a whole to bounce back rather than rescind.

“Those companies dealing with digital and inkjet printing business will not only drive revenue but significantly reduce their costs and increase production. Which is good news for job prospects over the coming years.”
