The association referred to an article in Indian magazine DQ Week on compatibles firm ProDot, in an email to all members.
The article said: “Alarmed with this viable scar, the vendors like HP are contemplating to install a chip with a sequencing code on the printers’ head so that they could easily identify if the cartridge is original by keying the code onto the website”.
ProDot had been accused of “poaching printer OEMs’ market” by DQ Week, which questioned the legitimacy of its products.
DQ Week found that ProDot has some major customers such as the Indira Gandhi National Open University, State Bank of India, the Supreme Court of India and many more.
The email said that a meeting has been called to “discuss what action should be taken”, with an attachment of a scanned copy of the article.
The meeting will be held between 6.30 and 7.30 pm on 29 October, at Jey Pee Agencies, No 32/1 Lalbagh Road, Bangalore 560 027.
