HP Q4 stable despite leadership change

Nov 23, 2010

The company’s Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) revenue stood at $7 billion for the three-month period ending 31 October, up a moderate eight percent year on year.

Meanwhile there was a strong increase in MFP units, with sales up 83 percent, and commercial printer hardware units were up by 43 percent.  However, revenues for Color Laser Jet units only increased by three percent, with total printer hardware units balancing out at a 14 percent increase overall.

The company’s total Q4 revenue is $33.3 billion, up $2.5 billion or eight percent from a year earlier.

Léo Apotheker, HP President and CEO, stated: “HP proved once again that it is able to execute given its market strengths and technology leadership.”

He added: “I have seen firsthand that we have talented people who are focused on delivering value for our customers. Our market opportunity is vast, and I am confident that we will extend our leadership into the future.”

The results display stable continued business for HP despite the upheaval caused by the sudden departure of former CEO Mark Hurd in August. Apotheker’s appointment had also caused problems for the company, with partner and rival Oracle Corporation currently embroiled in a bitter legal action against his former company SAP.
