Sun Chemical increases Gravure ink prices

Dec 10, 2010

The ink manufacturer claims that these changes, to Heatset and Publication products in Europe, are the result of price increases in the market for raw materials. Sun Chemical says that materials important to the ink making process, such as gum rosin and hydrocarbon resin, are in very short supply.

Further price increases may be on the way, as the company also stated that “a very large cost increase is imminently expected for carbon black materials. This is as a result of high crude oil prices together with a weaker Euro”.

Felipe Mellado, Chief Marketing Officer of Sun Chemical commented: “Sun Chemical continues to work hard to offset some of the raw material cost increases, but with shortages continuing and in some cases deteriorating, this move has become essential.”

This is the second time Sun Chemical have increased prices this year, the article on the first rise can be viewed here.
