Canon India envisions growing profits from MDS

Dec 13, 2010

According to Canon India, businesses can save up to 30 percent on their printing when they opt for its managed document services. Alok Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President of the company, stated: “With growing demand for Canon Managed Document Services, a domain which was started in 2009, we expect the revenue to touch Rs 100 crore [1 billion rupees] in 2011.”

The company currently has 18 large enterprise clients, including firms like automaker Maruti, information technology firm Mindtree and other companies from the pharmaceutical, FMCG and banking segments. “We plan to focus only on big enterprises under this vertical,” Bharadwaj commented.

Many of the big OEMs, such as Xerox, Wipro and HCL, are targeting the Indian market, as they see it as a growth hotspot. Bharadwaj stated that his company is aiming to become the market leader next year, adding that “We want to be a billion dollar company by 2015.”

The growth and increased profits are not all expected to come from Canon’s managed document services, but the company says this is one way for Canon to develop its brand and land large contracts with businesses.
