The OEM states that it has managed to achieve a 31 percent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions over twelve years. 92 percent of Xerox’s eligible new products launched met the 2009 Energy Star (version 1.1) standard, whilst the company also stated that it had achieved a 26 percent reduction in water use in the last eight years.
The company plans to maintain the 90 percent rate of reuse or recycling of recovered Xerox equipment and supplies offerings, and asserted its environmental credentials throughout the internal report. Ursula Burns, CEO of Xerox, stated: “We do some wonderful things with hard data to support our accomplishments – particularly in areas that impact the environment.”
The results come as a result of the company’s twelve year Green World Alliance program, which Xerox claims has managed to save 143 million pounds of toner, bottles and cartridges for recycling. The OEM also launched a cartridge collection program, Close the Loop, earlier this year, in order to improve its recycling and green credentials.
