Hurd, CEO of the OEM from 2005 until his resignation in August of this year, is trying to restrict the letter’s progress through the legal system, as it will eventually become a public document. HP does not believe that the document should remain confidential.
The letter in question was sent by Jodie Fisher’s lawyer, Gloria Allred, who was mediating a dispute between Fisher and Hurd.
Mr Hurd was forced to resign from the company as a result of his relationship with Jodie Fisher, a former contract employee for HP. Fischer has made allegations of sexual harassment against Hurd, which may have triggered his exit from HP in August. It has also been reported that Hurd revealed details of HP’s proposed acquisition of Electronic Data Systems (EDS).
Hurd has since taken up a position with Oracle, a technology company.
