Delacamp has announced the launch of its DCBioSelect range, a selection of products which replaces the throwaway plastic parts used in cartridge shipping with environmental bio-based versions.
The first products in the range are shipping locks for use with the HP CP 1518/1525 and CP2025 series cartridges. The company explained that items like Shipping locks and Transport Protection parts like developer roller covers are usually designed as throwaway items by the OEM, and due to a lack of established collection, usually go to waste.
The new shipping locks are 98 percent composed of a unique bio-based material derived from wooden fibres, making them completely carbon neutral.
Delacamp COO Volker Kappius explained: “We had prototypes at the booth at Remax this year for a Brother developer roller cover. We decided to launch the DCBioSelect Range with HP Color Shipping Locks.
“There are more bio based products in our pipeline. We felt that after successfully launching bio based toners we needed to move into the throwaway shipping protectors because of the environmental impact.”
Delacamp’s BioBlack toner range incorporates soy oil from renewable resources instead of the fossil-fuel derived petroleum based oil traditional toner uses.
Kappius continued “At Delecamp we want our customers and the whole industry as green as we can be. With bio based toners and shipping protectors we proved that we can out-green the OEM with true aftermarket inventions.”
The company is also currently developing DCBioSelect inflatable foil bags, likewise using bio-based materials.
