Fuji Xerox’s Eco-Manufacturing (Suzhou) Co. Ltd has now achieved its goal of reaching zero landfill waste, according to Asiatoday.
The site takes in Fuji Xerox products from around China and disassembles them for raw materials. The facility deals with collected empty ink and toner cartridges, and also recycles other products such as copiers and printers.
Eco-Manufacturing sorts the collected products into 70 categories such as steel, aluminium and copper. From its opening in 2008 until March 2011, it has reportedly generated 1,500 tons of recycled resources.
The facility has confirmed that 99.8 percent of all material is recycled, granting it the much coveted Zero Landfill for a second year. The Japanese OEM previously established 99.5 percent as the benchmark of Zero Landfill.
OEMs around the world have continued to increase their efforts to reclaim and recycle their cartridges. HP recently announced an increased partnership with Lavergne Group, which deals with collected material from shredded ink and toner cartridges.
