A former police officer in Victoria, Australia has taken a new direction in life by opening a store with the Inkspot refilling franchise, reports the Bendigo Advertiser.
John Epskamp has served his community for 20 years as a member of the police, and hoped to use the skills he developed working with people to begin his own business.
“While I was serving, all of my time was spent at the frontline of policing and I always thought that the discipline and self-management skills I was gaining were in many ways the same skills needed by a small business owner,’’ he told the Bendigo Advertiser.
“Charlton is a small town and many of the local business owners and farmers have been operating successfully for many years, in some cases generations.”
He continued: “They were hard-working, self-disciplined people who managed their limited time and often limited resources really well, they were great diplomatic communicators which is essential to thriving in a small community.’’
“I get to spend all day talking to people and helping them with their cartridge needs and I get to use all my skills in managing my new business.’’
