Epson celebrated its 300 millionth shipment of miniprinters on 13 September. The devices are utilised in markets as varied as retail, banking, food service and supermarkets.
The first developed by the OEM was entitled the EP-101, launched in 1968, which became the origin of the Epson brand.
President Minoru Usui commented: “Customer values have changed over the years, but we have achieved this milestone of 300 million miniprinters due to our commitment to on-going improvements.
“We are proud of this achievement, and of the values that have become part of our company’s DNA. We are determined to step up our efforts going forward.”
Previous milestones include the 100 millionth shipment reached in 1988 and the 200 millionth in 1999. Epson executives have pledged to achieve the 400 millionth shipment “at the earliest possible opportunity”.
