The year-long patent case against CostCo and others appears to be drawing to a close.
TonerHead’s legal action against several other aftermarket companies over patents for inkjet refill machines has entered its final phase this week.
The company, which is the parent of refill machine manufacturer Ink-O-Dem, launched legal action last year, accusing the defendants of being “wilful and wanton in blatant disregard” of its IP rights.
Intec Zone America Corporation, Retail Inkjet Solutions, Inc., Phoenix Ink Corporation, Costco Wholesale Corporation and Jewel-Osco, Inc. were all named in the case.
However, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois recorded that a settlement conference took place on Tuesday this week. Further details of the settlement talks and the closure of the case have not yet been filed.
As previously reported, Retail Inkjet Solutions (RIS) settled with TonerHead earlier this year. Actionable Intelligence speculated that the confidential agreement most likely involved technology licensing. InkTec Zone America also effectively exited the case after going bankrupt.
