70 percent use WiFi for printers and other gadgets

Oct 20, 2011

The ease of access and rising number of devices has made wireless increasingly popular.

A survey by PC Advisor has found that 70 percent of its readers use wireless technology to connect to gadgets other than desktop PCs and laptops, with printers among favourite devices.

PC Advisor highlighted the ubiquitous and multifunctional nature of modern wireless technology as reasons for its increasing popularity. Half of respondents said they used wireless with several different devices.

Printer technology was also given as a popular usage of wireless, thanks to the increasingly number of models which include wireless functionality to allow users to print from smartphones and other mobile devices, both in their own homes or while traveling.

“For instance, it’s a cinch to print from an Apple iPhone or iPad, or a Google Android tablet or phone , using the Kodak PicFlick app and any of the Kodak Hero printers,” wrote PC Advisor’s Matt Egan.

“This is an intelligent and easy to use printer with high-quality, low-cost ink, so you can print off photos without worrying about the cost, and it’s full of the smart new features that make printing from your mobile a cinch.”
