Static Control Components has announced that its Global Distribution centre has been reopened, less than five months after it was devastated by a tornado.
As The Recycler reported, four of Static’s buildings suffered damage after tornados swept though its Sanford, North Carolina home on 16 April.
Static was able to swiftly resume operations after using temporary facilities to distribute as it set about clearing the rubble and constructing its new facility.
Now it announces that operations have begun from a 174,000 new and improved state-of-the-art facility, built on the site of the old one.
“This new distribution centre will help us better serve our customers because we designed it for even greater efficiencies and capacity,” said Ed Swartz, CEO and founder
of Static Control.
Static added that the new building has 55 percent more storage space, designed with features that increase operational efficiencies, including wire-guided forklifts and higher
ceilings for more vertical storage.
No Static employs were injured in the disaster, while more than 20 people were killed across the state. Construction is still under way to replace the company’s global headquarters also destroyed by the tornado.
