HP demonstrates wide-format technology

Nov 2, 2011

The OEM presented its newest devices and plans for its wide-format machines at the Esri European User Conference (EUC).

The HP Designjet T2300

At the EUC show, which took place from 27 to 28 October in Madrid, Spain, HP presented how its Designjet printing technology works, specifically in the three areas it is aiming its wide-format offerings to: architectural, engineering and construction (AEC), geographic information systems (GIS), and mechanical computer aided design (MCAD). Visitors were invited to bring map files to be printed as a demonstration of the OEM’s devices’ speeds and output capabilities.

Of the devices on show, the newest were the Designjet T2300 eMultifunction (eMFP), the Designjet T790, and the Designjet T1300 Postscript. The former was mooted as the “industry’s first web-connected printing system with MFP benefits” by PrintView, and features “one-click scanning” of images and sketches, which can then be uploaded to the internet through use of HP’s mobile
ePrint application.

The Designjet T790 meanwhile is said to offer quick set up times, high print speeds of up to two A1-sized prints per minute, and the ability to print without opening any of the devices’ applications. The Designjet T1300 PostScript was also demonstrated, offering users the ability to print documents as wide as 111.8 cm (44 in) at a print speed of up to two A1 prints per minute.

The ability of each of the devices to use HP’s ePrint & Share application was also discussed, with guest speaker and government project planner Kenneth Hamlet explaining to visitors about his own
experiences of the system in his job.

The Designjet T2300 eMFP is available for €8,834 ($12,177), the T790 from €2,820 to €4,509 ($3,887 to $6,215), and the T1300 from €6,105 to €7,809 ($8,416 to $10,765). All of the devices are available now.
