Results contrasts with general sales decline in western Europe.
Despite almost universal negative Q3 results from OEMs, UK printer sales are reportedly up six percent for the third quarter of 2011, compared to the same period in 2010, according to IT market researcher Context. All-in-one inkjet sales contributed substantially to the increase, seeing a 9.6 percent sales boost.
The increase contrasts with an overall sales decline in western Europe, which saw an overall sales fall of one percent for the same region.
Jeremy Davies, Chief Executive of Context, commented on the differences experienced between different countries in the region: “In western Europe, the effects of the economic slowdown were felt by those countries most affected, especially Greece, where printer sales fell 35.1 percent in Q3 2011 compared with last year, with sales down 6.1 percent in Spain.
“In France, sales were flat with a year-over-year growth for Q3 2011 of 0.2 percent. Germany fared a little better, with a unit sales growth of one percent over the same period.”
HP remain the leading vendor across the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, holding a 44.2 percent market share. Canon are the second largest, with 21.4 percent market share.
