Intel and Qualcomm said to be in talks for Palm asset, although HP remain attached to webOS.
Despite HP’s continual efforts to shop webOS and other Palm assets to prospective buyers, Slash Gear has reported that the OEM are adamant that whoever picks up the platform will agree to license it back for use in future HP printers.
Intel and Qualcomm, despite the latter seeking distance from interest, have been linked to negotiations according to VentureBeat.
A number of advanced HP printers including the HP eStation C510 utilise a re-skinned Android OS, and HP has discussed connecting webOS and their Imaging and Printing Group from the initial days of the Palm acquisition. Slash Gear predict that HP has since already began developing its webOS printer
line-up and is keen not to surrender previous work.
Oracle and Samsung were previously connected with the acquisition of Palm assets, have been keen to separate themselves from rumour, as have most named companies.
