Worldwide hardcopy peripherals market return to year-over-year growth

The worldwide hardcopy peripherals market grew 1.6 percent year-on-year with MFP shipments dominant in 3Q11.

The International Data Corporation’s (IDC) “Worldwide Quarterly Hardcopy Peripherals Tracker has stated the worldwide hardcopy peripherals market has grown 1.6 percent year over year. 31.3 million units were shipped in 3Q 2011, with multifunction peripheral shipments dominating the hardcopy market with 66 percent of units (20.8 millions) shipped in the region.

Colour laser MFP space experienced a year-on-year growth of 24.1 percent, at an increase of 8.9 percent in Q2 2011.

Other noteworthy details include the inkjet market, specifically the colour inkjet market, remaining the technology that possesses the majority share in the hardcopy peripherals market and HP, Canon and Epson remain the top three vendors with worldwide market share.

Phuong Hang, Program Manager, Worldwide Hardcopy Peripheral Trackers, commented: “We believe most vendors have recovered from the production issues caused by Japan’s earthquake and tsunami in March. While this is a good sign, the market is expected to remain flat for the remainder of the year due to growing concerns about the economy.”
