The printer manufacturer states its intention to “sever all ties… once our legacy obligations are fulfilled.”
Printer manufacturer Xerox has been asked by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to outline its dealings with Iran, Sudan and Syria, reports Democrat and Chronicle.
Iran, Sudan and Syria are subject to trade restrictions by the US federal government, and conducting business with them may constitute a crime, although Xerox states that its
dealings with the countries over the last three years amounts to legacy obligations.
Xerox stated to the SEC: “We are committed to severing all contacts […] once our legacy obligations are fulfilled”, noting dealings with the nations could damage their reputation.
Xerox also stated that the company “Xerox Iran Co.”, operating in Tehran, is not affiliated with the OEM and utilises the company’s name without permission.
