Virtual Imaging Products terminated from Canon complaint

Jun 27, 2012

More companies removed from patent complaint, with Canon issuing another joint motion.

Canadian company Virtual Imaging Products (VIP) has been terminated from Canon’s patent complaint, which marks the OEM’s second joint motion filed.

VIP has agreed to terms preventing the company from “knowingly aid[ing], abet[.ing], or encourage, participate in, or induce the importation into the United States, the sale for importation into the United States, or the sale, offer for sale, or use in the United States after importation, the Subject Products or any [infringing] toner cartridge or photosensitive drum”.

Canon has previously filed a joint motion to terminate Atman, Inc. also known as pcRUSH, in late June, and vigorously opposed OnlineTechStore.com’s (OTS) motion to terminate the investigation, noting that OTS’ “eleventh-hour attempt” to prevent the investigation was “too little, too late”.
