OEM announces details of event to be held on 26-27 September in Berlin.
HP, which is to be the headline partner at EcoPrint, will reiterate its focus on sustainability and the commercial benefits for print service providers (PSPs) that choose to implement technology designed to reduce environmental impacts.
At the event, the OEM will demonstrate eco-friendly devices, including the HP Designjet L26500 printer, which features water-based HP Latex inks; and will present its views on sustainability through talks and discussions.
Roman Barba, HP Latex Applications Specialist will provide a presentation on “More Sustainable Choices for Retail Store Decoration”, while HP Indigo Business Development Manager Christian Menegon will speak on “The Environmental Benefits of Digital Printing of Labels and Packaging” at the event’s Ecoshowcase activity.
In addition, Stephen Goddard, Environmental Leadership Programme Manager for HP’s Graphics Solutions Business, will host a panel discussion about recent sustainability developments in the USA, which can often be an early indicator of what can influence practices in Europe.
The benefits of attaining a certification from the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership and other similar certifications around the world will also be discussed by Goddard, who will explain how they can encourage PSPs to take a more structured approach to sustainability and can provide them with a “badge of honour” that can be used to their advantage when trying to win customers.
“As suppliers, most PSPs would readily acknowledge that more and more customers – especially international brand owners – are asking them for more sustainable print solutions and, increasingly, driving them to implement more sustainable production methods,” Goddard commented.
“Those forward-thinking PSPs that have taken such necessary steps would also likely concur that printing with the environment in mind can be good for business; saving them – and even making them – money.”
Goddard concluded: “EcoPrint provides us the ideal forum to present new ideas, look at best practice and help PSPs to make informed decisions regarding their own environmental choices.”
