Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) takes Artorios Ink to federal court for misleading businesses.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Australian ink cartridge supplier Artorios Ink is to be taken to court by consumer watchdog ACCC after it accused the company of misleading businesses over supplying ink cartridges during 2011 and 2012.
The ACCC alleges that Artorios Ink, including its director Tuan Nguyen and sales manager Thuan Nguyen “engaged in conduct that was misleading or deceptive and made false or misleading representations involving the supply of printer cartridges to businesses”, including many SMBs.
After agreeing to purchase printer cartridges from the company, the ACCC alleges that Artorios Ink claimed to be its current supplier of printer cartridges “when no such agreement was made” and that Artorios Ink falsely claimed to have taken legal proceedings in the Magistrates Court of Victoria against the business in an attempt to force it to pay for printer cartridges.
According to the article, the case is to go before the Federal Court in Victoria on October 10, where the ACCC will be seeking to ban Tuan Nguyen and Thuan Nguyen from managing any company in Australia and to force the company to pay financial penalties.
