MSE releases replacement HP colour toner cartridges

Oct 3, 2012

The replacement cartridges are “intelligently re-engineered” alternatives for use in HP’s CP5525 printer.

The cartridges are designed as alternatives to the CE270A and CE273A colour toner cartridges, which are used in the OEM’s CP5525 colour laser device. The printer, released in November 2010, is A3-sized, and a replacement for the HP 5500, which MSE states “many considered [as] the most challenging cartridge in market history” due to issues such as “streaking, backgrounding, leaking, and fuser wrapping with full bleed prints”.

MSE adds that its Advanced Color Technologies (ACT) and Secondary Cleaning System (SCS) addressed the issues, with the result being a “super-quality aftermarket 5500”. SCS in turn is said by MSE to be an “additional critical component” not present in the original that “keeps the PCR clean and prevents excess toner from transferring onto the OPC at any time during the life of the cartridge”.

The ACT is also noted by MSE as being a “suite of patented technologies” as well as a “comprehensive approach that includes the customized co-development of matching critical cartridge components”. The cartridges in turn are available in branded or generic packaging.

Yoel Wazana, President of MSE, stated: “The SCS is not just helpful in these new applications, we look at it as necessary. We have even seen toner additives build up in OEM benchmarking that improves after installing our SCS.

“We have addressed fuser-wrapping problems with custom, co-developed raw materials that allow for the borderless printing common in A3 applications. With the 5525, the challenge with buildup is even more critical because of the 13,000-page cartridge life. In any color application over 8000 pages, SCS is a must. ”
