A meeting to aid laid-off HP workers in receiving federal benefits has been established on 1 November.
Workmen and staff laid-off at HP’s Corvallis Plant are to receive aid in signing up for federal benefits following the announcement that approximately 236 workers would be fired, reports Corvallis Gazette-Times.
Both HP employees and workers leased through Manpower, Synova and Pinnacle Trade Resources will be affected by the downsizing.
Two meetings have been arranged on the day, both taking part at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library for workers certified by the US Department of Labor in September to receive assistance under the Trade Act, with an additional meeting set up for former staff within HP’s printing and personal systems, inkjet printing systems and inkjet supplies business divisions.
HP recently announced that it would be cutting 29,000 jobs across its global workforce, representing eight percent of its workforce, although has confirmed that there will be no job losses in India and the 3,000 employees recently taken by General Motors would not be contributing to the number of losses.
