UTEC launches compatibles with new drum gear

Oct 31, 2012

The manufacturer has launched compatible HP toner cartridges complete with its new NoTwist drum gear.

UTEC notes that the NoTwist gear does not have the “twisted projection” as the Canon gear does, and therefore is exempt from patent infringement in this case. The cartridges also feature “proprietary technologies that enhance print quality and performance” under UTEC’s SmarTact technology initiative.

The new models are designed as alternatives for HPs CE390A and CC364A toner cartridges, which are compatible with the following printers:

CE390A – HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M601dn; 600 M601n; 600 M602dn; 600 M602x; 600 M602n; 600 M603n; 600 M603dn; 600 M603xh; M4555f; M4555fskm; M4555h; M4555

CC364A – HP LaserJet P4014; P4014N;P4014DN; P4015; P4015N; P4015TN; P4015DN; P4015X; P4515; P4515N; P4515TN; P4515X; P4515XM

The cartridges are also described by UTEC as featuring “superb print quality” and “excellent fusing”. The NoTwist gear was designed and patented so as to offer an alternative to the OEM’s gear, which has been the root cause of the year’s biggest legal case between Canon and aftermarket companies including Clover. The new gear was recently patented in the USA, which The Recycler reported in late October.
